DAD TAKES SCHOOL TO COURT OVER BRIBE

A father surnamed Han from Jiangxi Province recently filed a lawsuit against a middle school president that failed to  put his son into he right class.
Han paid 7,000 yuan (US$863) for his boy to attend Shangrao Middle School after the president promised he would put the pupil in the class with the  most excellent stidents.
The father asked the court to make to school cough up the cash he had invested in his son's schooling, but the case was thrown out.

CANADIAN VET FLIES IN TO TREAT PANDAS


Animals in a zoo in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, have beenenjoying the privilege of being treated by a foreign vet - the first such arrangement in China.
Adoctoral level vet from Canada arrived in Chengdu last month, attracted by the prospect of caring for rare animals such as Giant Panda and Golden Monkeys.
With six years of veterinarian experience in his native country, the international vet is considered qualified for the job by the administrator of the zoo.
The Canadian vet has brought his wife and four children over to live with him in Chengdu.

STATUES' BEARDS GROW IN TEMPLES

The beards of nine josses worshipped in a temple in Miaoli, Taiwan Province, have mysteriously grown longer.
The beard on one statue has lengthened by 40cm. Locals said the josses were placed in the temple at the end of last year.
Experts have analyized the beard, made of horse hair,  to determine whether it could have grown because of nutrients in the wooden statues and the humid climate.

ANIMAL LOVERS OFFERED SPECIAL PETS

For 50,000 yuan (US$6,175) you can be the proud owner of a National Treasure level Giant Panda for a year.
There are also opportunities to hire Golden Monkeys, Manchurian Tigers and American Leopards in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei Province.
Owners cannot take their new pets  home - they continue to live at the zoo - but they will enjoy regular visits to their adopted animals.

DOCTOR GOES FOR SHORTEST MAN ON RECORD

A man is applying to the Guinness Book of Records to see if he is the shortest grown-up.
Fan Sisheng, 54, measures 1.05 metres, posing a real challenge to the current record 1.26 metres.
The man from Wuyuan County of Inner Mongolia has  five brothers and sisters of average height.
A doctor, Fan is clever and healthy.

UPSET WITH YOUR HUSBAND? RESORT TO VIOLENCE

Please feel free to engage in fits of fury to relieve stress and depression, say staff at a women and children's  centre in Shenyang of Lioaning Province.
The centre recently opened a fighting room full of human sized rubber figures, inviting women to take out  their anger by beating them mercilessly.
Counsellors are also on hand at the centre.
Many visitors say they feel much better after smacking and yelling at the inanimate figures.

MAN MAKES MORE THAN HALF WORLD'S SNOOPIES

 Ma leshan, a 77-year old Guangdong native known as the Chinese father of Snoopy, put on a display of more than 2,000 cartoon models in Guangzhou last week.
Over the past 50 years, Ma has made models of many popular cartoon characters for a Hong Kong based company, including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Garfield, the Lion King and Batman.
In 1964, Ma began making Snoopy models, later becoming the only approved producer designated by Charles Schultz, the creator of the world's most famous cartoon dog.
So far Ma claims to have made more than 30,000 plastic Snoopies, accounting for more than half of the world's total.
